The Original Raj Hotel in Edinburgh is the UK's first Indian themed hotel. Opened by Lady Shakira Caine in Spring 2000, as the name suggests the hotel aims to conjure up the images of elegance and opulence of days gone by.

The hotel furnishings are of Indian hardwood, handmade in Jaipur from recycled Australian railway sleepers.

Bedrooms are en-suite, spacious, clean and modern with a traditional Indian theme. They are individually decorated in different colours to convey a warm and peaceful atmosphere to our guests.

Our hotel is close to the centre of Edinburgh and perfect for families, independent and business travellers or anyone looking for a peaceful and quiet, affordable hotel.

The Original Raj Hotel is owned by celebrity chef and entrepreneur Tommy Miah who also owns the well known Raj Restaurant on The Shore in Leith, as well as The Tommy Miah's Raj Hotel in London.
